“Ruben Brave is a Dutch internet pioneer, board member at impactful tech or media-related organizations, a media professional and a serial entrepreneur in technology, media and telecommunication (TMT). He stood at the cradle of leading Dutch online initiatives of some of the largest companies in publishing, sports, telecom and travel.”
Ruben loves to collaborate with inquisitive and committed people, to solve complex and societal impactful issues with entrepreneurship and technology.
With his company, Entelligence B.V., he builds public benefit corporations in collaboration with knowledge institutions such as the Center for JobKnowledge Research (CJKR, a multidisciplinary think tank and an institute of the University of Amsterdam) that has developed an innovative assessment to determine the growth potential of individuals.
In his role as an unremunerated board member of the Bema Foundation (founding organization of the European Press Prize), Ruben has initiated Make Media Great Again (MMGA). Through MMGA, a blockchain-based annotation platform, critical and knowledgeable readers can provide constructive feedback on the use of sources and other quality aspects of news articles to combat misinformation and create an eco-system for quality control; Parties like NU.nl and AD.nl, two of the “Big Four” largest Dutch online news platforms, signed on as co-development partner.
In 2020, MMGA was acquired by Internet Society (ISOC Netherlands) to become the Internet Society Netherlands MMGA Working Group to jointly combat the global ‘infodemic’. The Working Group is co-led by Ruben Brave as an ISOC board member and the professors Jean Wagemans and Federica Russo of the University of Amsterdam.
Ruben’s credo, as an independent advocate for Dutch innovative entrepreneurship, is that “Start-ups are society’s portal to a brighter future”.
